Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent.
- 3 years of prior relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree, 2 years of prior work experience with a master’s degree.
- Ability to understand hardware configuration and network/data communications, software development and scripting, and database technology and database exploitation/forensics.
- Strong knowledge of best practices/industry-standard digital forensic processes and procedures (computer acquisition techniques, and memory acquisition techniques).
- Expert knowledge of digital evidence collection, handling, and storage procedures.
- Experience with industry accepted and Open-Source Digital Forensic tools (EnCase, Relativity, and Magnet AXIOM, a plus).
- In-depth knowledge and familiarity of cyber forensic technologies.
- Desired Qualifications
- Possess at least one professional designation, such as EnCE, CFCE, CCFP, GCFA, GNFA, GCFE, CFCE, GCIH, GREM, etc.
- Experience with legal proceedings or giving expert witness testimony.
Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic processes on a variety of digital media including hard drives, thumb drives, media cards, and other devices.
- Collect data in a forensically sound manner both remotely and from physical devices in support of internal investigations and litigation support while ensuring that local, regional, and country data privacy laws are followed.
- Maintain collected evidence documentation and chain-of-custody.
- Create detailed notes on processes undertaken and develops forensic reports in support of internal investigations.
- Assist in the testing of forensic hardware and software tools prior to use in the team’s environment.
- Annual input on strategic planning and budget requirements for the forensic investigations and litigation support.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate with all levels of cybersecurity within the organization.
- Remain up to date and current on new trends, skill sets, and capabilities to collect and manage digital evidence, consistent with federal court requirements.
- Performs work that requires practical experience and training.
- Interfaces directly with the CISO, Internal Audit, Compliance Leaders, and other stakeholders
- Addresses technical issues and provide solutions encompassing Protected Information (e.g., Drug Discovery, Patent & Licensing, and Genomics) and Fraud (e.g., Grant/Financial Management and Conflict of Interest).
- Works with the Cybersecurity, Legal, and other relevant stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for continuous program improvement.
- Communicates technical events and analysis to both technical and nontechnical audiences and an understanding of the potential legal impacts.
- Understanding and reporting of attacker Indicators of Compromise and organizing them so they can be applied to current and future investigations.
- Engage with senior leadership and stakeholders to address security concerns, strategy, or escalated incidents.
